How UnitMora approaches accuracy

A result is more useful when you can understand where it came from, what was rounded, and when an estimate has limits.

Sources and definitions

Unit conversions use recognized SI definitions and widely accepted exact or conventional relationships where available. Exact definitions are preserved in the calculation; approximate relationships and context-dependent assumptions are described beside the relevant tool.

Formulas and assumptions

Each calculator uses the formula shown with the result. Many real-world questions depend on assumptions—interest timing, material properties, biological variation, tax rules, or local standards. We expose important assumptions in the tool, its worked example, or its disclaimer instead of presenting every output as universally exact.

Precision and rounding

Calculations use JavaScript’s standard double-precision arithmetic. UnitMora generally keeps full available precision during calculation and rounds for display according to the selected precision. Reusing a displayed result can therefore differ slightly from a calculation that uses the unrounded internal value.

Verification

Our automated verification suite exercises conversion round trips, known reference values, edge cases, and input validation. A successful test does not remove model uncertainty or guarantee that a formula fits your specific situation, so high-impact results should always be independently checked.

Corrections

We treat reproducible accuracy reports as a priority. Send the tool URL, inputs, actual result, expected result, and a reliable source to our contact address. We review the implementation and update the formula, wording, or limitation when warranted. The full workflow is documented in our corrections policy.
